The Reward of Honesty

Part 1: A Poor Boy

The golden rays of the sun were lighting up the peaks of the mountains. In the small village of Devpur in Uttarakhand, a humble family lived. The head of the family, Raju, was a poor farmer who worked day and night to feed his family.

Raju's son, Vijay, was a bright and hardworking boy. His mother, Kamla, always taught him, "Son, you may lose everything in life, but honesty and hard work never go to waste." Vijay understood this lesson well.

There was only one school in the village, but it lacked proper resources. Vijay was passionate about studying. After working in the fields, he would read old newspapers and books. His dream was to achieve something that could lift his family out of poverty.

Part 2: Journey to the City

One day, news spread in the village that a businessman in the nearby city was looking for an assistant for his large office. When Vijay heard this, he felt it was the biggest opportunity of his life.

He told his mother, "Mother, I want to go to the city and get a job. This way, I can earn money and help you and father."

Kamla was worried, but she gave her blessings and said, "Son, whatever you do, always stay honest."

Part 3: The First Test

Upon reaching the city, Vijay applied for the job at businessman Ramesh Gupta’s office. Ramesh Gupta was a strict but fair person. He told Vijay, "If you are capable of this job, you must pass a test."

Vijay agreed. The test was simple – work in the office for one day, completing small tasks, and see how he performed.

At noon, Vijay found a wallet in the office. It belonged to the businessman and contained ₹50,000. A thought crossed his mind – If I take this money, my family can escape poverty! But then, he remembered his mother’s words: "Honesty is the greatest wealth."

Vijay picked up the wallet and returned it to Ramesh Gupta. The businessman smiled and said, "Your test is over. The job is yours!"

Part 4: Struggles and Success

Vijay started working diligently. He helped in the office, organized files, and learned the trade. Impressed by his dedication and honesty, Ramesh Gupta promoted him to chief assistant.

A few years later, Vijay became so capable that he started his own business. He returned to his village and brought his parents to the city to live with him.

Not only did he achieve success, but he also built a school in the village so that no child would be deprived of education.

Part 5: The Reward of Honesty

One day, an old man came to Vijay’s office. It was Ramesh Gupta, now weak and aged. Vijay immediately welcomed him and said, "Sir, whatever I am today is because of your guidance and my parents’ teachings."

Ramesh Gupta smiled and said, "No, my son, this is all because of your honesty and hard work. Years ago, I gave you a job, but your dedication brought you to this level."

He handed over a major part of his company to Vijay and said, "Now, it’s time for me to retire, and you must take this company to new heights."

Tears filled Vijay’s eyes. He had learned that true wealth comes from honesty and hard work. If we walk on the right path, success will always follow.
